Choice?

Description

Something I've noticed in Western society is a strong resistance against women in hijab. People claim to be against hijab for reasons like "a woman has a right to wear whatever she wants", "hijab is a symbol of patriarchal oppression", and in the case of niqab "it's a threat to national security". My question for these people is, are you really against hijab, or against Islam?

If a woman has a right to wear whatever she wants, why can't she choose to wear hijab? If covering the face is a threat to national security, should we ban scarves, festive masks, and sunglasses, too? These criticisms of hijab are based in fear and hatred of Islam and Muslims.

Perhaps, instead of assuming you know better than Muslim women about what they should wear, or assuming that Muslim women are helpless and oppressed by "the patriarchy" and need western women to "liberate" them, or assuming that Muslim women are terror threats by simply existing, you should let people wear what they want and celebrate diversity.

Hijab: my choice, my right, my life.

How is the hijab "your choice" when your religion states that if you don't wear hijab you are a whore who is asking to get raped and at the end of your life you will go to Hell?
