Muslims Love Jesus

Muslims believe in Jesus. In Arabic, we call him Isa. We believe he was born of the Virgin Mary (Maryam in Arabic). We believe he performed miracles. We believe he preached the Word of God. Muslims look to Isa and Maryam as role models (ex. Maryam was very modest and covered her hair). We believe many of the same things that Christians do. Many Muslims even believe that Isa will come at the End of Times.

There are three major differences between the Christian view and the Muslim view of Jesus:

-Muslims believe Jesus was a Prophet of God, not His son or God Himself. Islam teaches that God cannot be split or enter into His own creation.
-Muslims believe Jesus himself did not die on the cross. Islam teaches that his soul was taken to heaven before the crucifixion. 
-Muslims believe that Jesus did not die for our sins. Muslims do not believe in Original Sin, because Islam teaches that each person is born with a blank slate and is only responsible for their own actions. So it would not make sense for a Muslim to believe Jesus died for our sins, because our sins are ours alone.

Muslims and Christians believe many of the same things. Muslims are commanded to help the poor, feed the hungry, visit the sick, clothe the naked, and to love thy neighbor - all things Christians are also commanded to do. If we set aside our differences, Muslims and Christians CAN coexist peacefully. We must work together toward a brighter future.
